Immediately after the end of the winter season, Alpin Family GmbH went to the insolvency court on 30 April 2025. This is not an isolated case. Is the Austrian hotel industry facing a wave of bankruptcies? The obligation to repay outstanding Covid-19 economic aid in the current year is not making things easier.

With adapted questionnaires for small and large tourism  businesses, Austria's policymakers wants to be able to better measure  sustainability in tourism, both with regards to finance as well as to  environmental and social issues. The key metrics will be taken into  account for funding. The following provides details.
