BGH: Money back in case of cancellation

Hotel closed because of Covid

Anyone who was unable to make a hotel booking due to a ban on accommodation issued in times of coronavirus is entitled to a refund of the advance payment.

Karlsruhe. Yesterday's ruling by the German Federal Court of Justice is certainly causing resentment in the Corona-hit hospitality industry: establishments affected by lockdowns and closures are not entitled to compensation for lost revenue. "However, this does not change the Federal Constitutional Court's finding on the equal distribution of Corona aid," Dirk Iserlohe, Honestis AG/Dorint Hotels, comments on the decision this morning, once again drawing attention to the other big construction site for hotel groups.
