In cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, people are groaning under the masses of tourists. Venice charges admission and Amsterdam imposes a tourist tax to control the crowds. But where do holidaymakers actually expect the most tourists per inhabitant?

The ranking: The Holidu ranking was created based on the number of tourists in 2023 for each city on The Savvy Backpacker and Air Mundo's most visited cities lists. This list was used to collect data from Euromonitor International's "Top 100 City Destinations Index 2023", which was published in December 2023. The population figures for each city were then taken from the World Population Review and other credible sources. The final ranking sorts each city from top to bottom based on the number of tourists per inhabitant, sorting by cities with the most tourists. All cities from Russia and Ukraine were removed from this ranking. / red
