Augsburg. Tables and beds are increasingly in for separation: while non-smokers are making themselves comfortable, smokers are being sent out of the room. At least to another separate room where smoking is permitted. The new year seems to be a decisive time of separation for new anti-smoking initiatives: After Italy introduced strict non-smoking laws in January 2005, Spain followed suit this year. In contrast to this self-commitments prevail in Germany and Austria. However, according to first-hand experience, high conversion costs and drops in turnover cannot be denied. A rough picture of the situation from an Austrian point of view.
