Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München, and his team have been developing the format and the theme for a year, and now it is becoming a reality. Thespecial show "EXPO REAL Decarb—make the climate change work" targets start-ups, scale-ups and companies involved in "properties as ecosystems," ‘"ecarbonization of the property portfolio", and "climate-neutral district and urban development." The focus is on innovative and practical solutions to implement future projects in a climate-neutral manner or to climate-optimize existing buildings.
"We deliberately created this platform to enable companies with interface topics to other industries, such as the construction and building materials sector, photovoltaic industry, mobility concept providers or companies focusing on ClimateTech, to be present at the fair," explains Rummel. This offers the opportunity to discuss with industry experts and city representatives and find joint cooperation and solution approaches for upcoming challenges; but also to make companies and their ideas visible through pitches.
The special exhibition is located in the NOVA³ hall, where ideas, solutions and practical examples on the subject of the real estate industry of the future will also be presented. The Tech Alley and the Real Estate Innovation Forum are also located here, and the ESG and NOVA³ tours also start there.
In the Real Estate Innovation Forum, current ideas and cooperations of the tech and real estate industry will be highlighted and recommendations for action will be given. Three VC rounds are new, in which international venture capitalists will present what a start-up has to bring with it in order to successfully conclude funding in these challenging times. Start-ups from various sectors are located in the associated Tech Alley.
Some countries missing, new ones coming
Expo Real will take place in Munich from 4-6 October 2023. Whether exhibitor participation will reach the level of 2022 - which was almost the same as the pre-Corona level - Managing Director Rummel was not yet able to say exactly at the end of August: "As we are still receiving registrations from co-exhibitors, we do not have the final numbers yet. However, we anticipate participation of more than 1,700 exhibitors, which means a slight decrease in exhibitors’ participation figures. Trade fairs always reflect the industry and, consequently, the current market situation, which is not entirely unproblematic. A few country participations, such as Romania or Bulgaria, will not be present this year."
He continues: "Yet we succeeded in attracting new exhibition partners, such as the joint pavilion UK Cities and Partners featuring Opportunity London, Marketing Manchester, Newcastle, and West Midlands. We also have Majid Al Futtaim from Dubai as a major participant and for the first time the Real Estate General Authority from Saudi Arabia. And there will be an Italian joint pavilion, Real Estate Italy." / red
