Bangkok. A surge in expansion regarding Six Senses resorts and spas: the luxury hotel group is aiming at managing at least six further resorts and 40 spas worldwide - even in cooperation with other hotel chains.
With this project list, Six Senses casts off its image as a boutique hotel operator. The team around Partner Sonu Shivdasani and Managing Director Bernhard Bohnenberger aims at operating nine further spas by the end of 2006 - all of them under the roof of other hotel chains, e.g. for Ritz-Carlton, Kempinski and Ana Mandara. Highlight of all projects: The spa in Kilkenny, linked with Conrad, will be a 5 million dollar investment! Six Senses is expanding at a much faster rate with its spas than with its resorts.

Just like with the resorts, the group only concludes management contracts for operating the spas. It expects the renowned hotel operator to accept the Six Senses concept without any compromises. "We demand that only ecologically friendly and energy-saving materials be bought," explains Bernhard Bohnenberger. This is checked, among others, by an ecologist who is a member of the executive team. As regards quality assurance, Six Senses engages its own spa trainers to convey their philosophy about treatments, eco friendliness and service.
When it comes to the resort sector, six new resorts are scheduled to opened by the end of 2006. This includes their first projects in Europe. Six Senses will operate them under its own brand names Soneva and Evason Hideaway. The management estimates the costs per resort to lie between 16 and 20 million dollars. If the company has to buy any land, the price will go up by an additional two to four million dollars. map
