While one group says that 73% of the Germans plan at least one trip in 2009, the other group expects that more and more people prefer vacations at home for financial reasons.

According to initial preliminary estimates of the Federal Statistical Office in Switzerland, foreign travellers spent 15.6 billion francs in Switzerland in 2008, about one billion francs more compared to last year. Expenses of Swiss travellers abroad declined by 283 million francs to 11.8 billion francs - or by 187 million euro to 7.8 billion euro.
