Berlin/Pisa. It has been a year of ups and downs for international travel in the Americas. In North America, the US outbound market is performing very well thanks to the strong dollar. But in South America, Brazilians have cut back on international travel this year.

London. London is suffering from the first impact of the Brexit decision; the regions are taking the lead now. Due to the weak Pound, travel patterns are already changing and costs for hoteliers and developers rising. While nobody, including the UK government, seems to know what Brexit really means, the vote on 23 June to leave the EU is already having a significant effect on the country's hotel sector – some of it is good and some bad. Inevitably Brexit was a central focus of discussion at Henry Stewart's "Hotel Finance, Investment and Development in the UK and Continental Europe" conference on 23 November.

Berlin/Pisa. Asians travelled more than ever so far this year, with a surge in trips to destinations within the region and including many more beach holidays. The outlook remains strong for 2017.
