New 25hours inspired by Levi's

Frankfurt/M. In the first half of July 2008, 25hours Hotel Company will open its third design hotel for uncomplicated "downtown Indians". In close collaboration with the cult brand of Levi's, an unconventional hotel world with the charm and humour of a modern community is being created in the area around Frankfurt Central Station. It will be the first hotel of 25hours created in collaboration with a lifestyle partner.

Hilton UK deal: 30 new hotels

Hilton Hotels Corporation signed its latest major strategic development alliance in the UK with HLH Property Ltd. to introduce up to 30 new hotels comprising around 4,000 rooms in the next five years. This represents the third major UK hotel deal with a leading property partner for Hilton since it declared the intention to grow its family of brands internationally.

Guoman expands, but not in Continental Europe

From Asia to Europe and back: the young Guoman Hotels luxury brand, which is owned by Asians, but only represented in London up until now, wants to double its portfolio from currently three to six deluxe hotels by 2010. Afterwards, additional hotels will be erected in Asia and in the Middle East.

Budget Resorts by A-rosa?

Following its separation from Arkona hotels, Deutsche Seereederei based in Hamburg now runs the luxurious A-rosa Resorts in Bad Saarow, Travemuende and Kitzbuehel as well as the Hotel Neptun in Warnemuende and the A-rosa Sylt through the management company A-rosa Resort Management Ltd.. Senator Horst Rahe, Managing Partner of DSR, raised the possibility of extending the portfolio to include budget properties at a discussion in Switzerland in mid-May.

German economy returns to average again

Berlin. Economic growth in Germany returns to average this year after the two boom years 2006 and 2007. Consumer demand also fell in the second half of 2007. Private consumption fell from 1% in 2006 to 0.4% last year. The reason for the fall was the increase in VAT. Especially affected by the changes is the hotel and restaurant industry. The hotels did better.

Top 200: not the best, but satisfactory

Frankfurt/Stuttgart. Last year, the 200 most profitable hotels in Germany managed to pick up the thread of the extraordinary successful World Cup year. In 2007, the "Top 200" hotels increased their turnover by 4.7 percent compared to last year. In comparison to the peak result of 2006, this is a respectable result. All in all, the most profitable individual hotels generated a net turnover of 3.08 billion euros. With this, they again make up for about one third of the total turnover of Germany's hospitality industry.

Duesseldorf. The cutting of the red ribbon last Monday signalled the start for the American Capella Hotels in Germany: From now on, Duesseldorf’s famous Grand Hotel will be marketed in newly renovated glory and under a new name: The Breidenbacher Hof, a Capella Hotel.
