The Asian Banyan Tree luxury hotel group from Singapore will take over six luxury resorts in China, Korea, Jordan, and Turkey as well as on Mauritius and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The hotels will be operated by the two brands of Banyan Tree and Angsana.

Berlin. Scandic and Danish real estate developer Schaumann Properties A/S have entered into a partnership that will develop a new hotel with 572 rooms located at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. The hotel marks the first serious step on Scandics new international growth strategy and is expected to open in February 2010.

Munich.
Design dresses up budgets: after the success of the German low-budget design hotel chain of Motel One, Austria's Cube-Hotels will also develop a "design cube". Thís was announced by Martin Lachout, CEO of the operating company of Vienna International at the hotelforum industry conference in Munich on Wednesday. The discussion about concepts of budget hotels showed the high degree of diversification in this segment. The hotel group of Motel One is growing outside Germany as well. Its joint-venture company with the Austrian Verkehrsbuero Group will sign the agreements for the first two Motel One in Vienna today: in the Molatgasse next to the Naschmarkt and the location of Rossauer Lende close to the city a 197-room hotel will be erected by 2009 and a 320-room hotel by 2010, respectively. / mapNews Mix
