Augsburg/Hamburg. Opportunities and risks are spread broadly in the hotel industry. Whilst the digitalisation megatrend is clearly viewed as an opportunity, on the investment side, the sector currently shows itself to be quite ambivalent. The overall mood in the sector is meanwhile stuck around cautious optimism. These were the findings of the specialist magazine HospitalityInside and Union Investment in their current Hotel INVESTMENT BAROMETER Autumn 2016.
Berlin/Pisa. Europeans changed their travelling habits this year by opting for safe destinations, including a stagnation in sun & beach holidays, while going on more city trips. European destinations welcomed fewer Asian visitors this year. Those were some of the results of the 24th "World Travel Monitor Forum" in Pisa, Italy.

Vienna. After a deep pause last year, hotel investments in Austria have jumped considerably this winter. In some ski centres, plans are once again being enthusiastically implemented, casualties of bankruptcies are finding new buyers and the Austrian Tourism Bank now puts the current growth in hotel investment at 37%.
Paris. Karl Lagerfeld is entering the world of hospitality. The celebrity fashion designer announced plans on Monday to launch his own branded hotel chain. The first property will open in Macau in 2017.
Hong Kong/Munich. Three Peninsula Hotels are currently in the planning and construction phase at the same time - more than ever before in the history of Hong Kong-based ultra-luxury group. The new hotels promise new superlatives. COO Peter Borer was in Munich and reported on recent details.
