Berlin. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and its new lifestyle brand, aloft hotels, signed an agreement with Thornsett Group Ltd, an Irish property development company, to develop the first aloft hotel in Europe, the aloft Brussels, Belgium. The deal was signed at the 10th International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin last week, when Starwood and its stylish W Hotels division introduced their aloft brand into the Europe, Middle East & Africa regions. Accor to sell 91 properties for 863 Million Euros

Paris. As part of its real estate management strategy, Accor signed a memorandum of understanding last Monday to sell 72 hotels in Germany and 19 in the Netherlands to Moor Park Real Estate for 863 million euros, including a 43-million-euro renovation program to be paid for by the owner. The Novotel, Mercure, Ibis and Etap Hotel properties involved in the transaction represent a total of 12,000 rooms.

London. Grass green and cheeky - these are the words springing to mind when describing the new Holiday Inn design. InterContinental Hotels Group now present their changed concept for all new hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The new model allegedly increases owners' return by making more efficient use of yield producing hotel space and by reducing construction costs by 25 percent per room. The economic design also allegedly includes the use of recycled materials.
