Dear Insider,
Just four days to go until Paris. And it’s set to reach 35 degrees there, in keeping with the HOT. Hotels Tomorrow celebrates its premier. The last weeks have been intense in the background, with many registrations coming in at the last minute. The level of the 48 speakers is high yet varied - take a look at the program. Over 100 companies from around 20 European countries will be attending. Keep your fingers crossed for the "3M's" (the founders Maria, Marius Gomola and Marc Werner)! www.hotelstomorrow.eu
Do you already know? The hotel industry is to blame for over-tourism! For Airbnb founder Brian Chesky, this is quite clear. And Airbnb can't help the housing shortage either. He feels unfairly treated. Researchers are now strongly opposing this with facts and figures. In Paris alone, Airbnb occupies around 4% of apartments, and the figure around the Louvre Museum is already 15%. Across Europe, municipalities and governments are now pointing the finger at the supposedly 'social provider' under the untouchable umbrella of the "sharing economy". What a beautiful name, what a fake story.
I wonder if Airbnb already has voicebots that can be used to collect bookings even faster? More and more travellers are making friends with this AI voice and enjoy making online bookings verbally. The voicebot has overtaken the chatbot. Our new author Catherine Bouchon will be researching the topic of AI intensively for us in future.
Today, a Dutch architect leads us into a new era of responsible building. She also draws inspiration from the computer, but the realisation is "manual work" and humane: She places social housing next to penthouses, creates life on dead roof surfaces and invented the "rooftop walk". Great pictures and ideas from a woman who gives form and colour to the zeitgeist.
Pandox is currently on a shopping spree. We rarely hear anything from the Swedes, but the pipeline of the Irish Dalata Group is tempting. At least it fits in with the spirit of the times, just as the EU is softening up the next law. I take a rather negative view of that.
Poland jumps for joy: The country is expecting record tourism revenues this year. Despite the parched earth and many other burdens, Africa is evolving from a continent of developing countries into a continent of developers: a brief look at the next pipelines of the chains there.
Climate change may well become a job killer because it affects many professions that work outdoors, among other things. The island of Capri in Italy wants to protect its tourists, and Copenhagen replaces Vienna as the most liveable city. Have a safe and sound next turbulent week!
Yours, Maria Pütz-Willems

Chatbots are out. Telephone AI voicebots are now fundamentally changing guest communication in hotels: They are already taking bookings and answering questions, working around the clock. Call quality and the precision of the information provided increase every month. User acceptance is also growing rapidly.
"We mix nerds and tree huggers in our office. And together, we dream," smiles Sanne van der Burgh. The Dutch architect creates buildings that can change how people live, connect, and care. She puts social housing next to million-euro penthouses and changes rooftops.
