Pandemic turns Italian group ranking upside down
Milan. The latest ranking by hotel company turnover in Italy has changed within one year completely. In 2019, Starhotels was the largest group with the highest turnover, last year it was Alpitour.
Forte Village added an urban resort
Cagliari. It's a 30-million-euro investment, capex included – and the only urban resort in Sardinia. The owners of the luxury resort Forte Village acquired and renovated Palazzo Doglio: a Leading Hotel of the World with 72 rooms and private apartments in the heart of Cagliari. But Forte Village is going for more: It's trying to export its business model to further locations.
The relationship finder
Milan. From a small company mainly depending on tour operators to a contemporary group distributing its product globally: Italian TH Resorts celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, boasting ambitious plans supported by several strategic partnerships. But many challenges are on the horizon, so finding the right route through today's labyrinthine market is the main mission of TH Resorts based in Padua with offices in Milan. Their recipe is to rely on strong and long-lasting relations – and to open up now to important partnerships, even border-crossing cooperation. With 17 properties accounting for 3,500 rooms in 3 segments, all located in Italy, the group is a medium-sized hospitality company by Italian standards, with an offer mainly focused on the national market today. Giorgio Palmucci, Executive Vice President of Hotelturist - TH Resorts explains.
Hardly anything tailor-made for the industry
Venice-Mestre. Re-start in Italy: The travel and hospitality industry is looking forward to this long-awaited moment. The Italians are allowed to move again between all regions, while the first borders towards several European countries will open on 15 June. But there are still many uncertainties and more important, a few official rules to comply with for the travel segment. At least, this is the complaint of all tourism companies: from tour operators to cruise lines and hotels. So, how can they prepare themselves for the re-start? Massimiliano Sarti talked to Luca Boccato, CEO of HNH Hospitality: a white-label company based in Venice-Mestre that currently manages 13 hotels, mainly in the north-eastern part of Italy with two more openings announced for 2020 in Rome and Verona. Many properties are flagged with international brands such as Best Western, Doubletree by Hilton, Indigo and Crowne Plaza. All of them remained closed during the lockdown period.
