Frankfurt/M. A joint road show on the topic of "Pricing & Distribution" will bring the two hotel associations, the HSMA and IHA, as well as the training institute IFH and numerous experts to Hamburg, Cologne and Munich this September. The half-day training session is also open to non-members.
Munich. Neutral videos to influence booking decision. It's this idea which has caught the attention of the hotel search engine TVtrip.de, and, as they hope, some of their future users. TVtrip.de presents all hotels using video film. Behind the project is Anja Keckeisen's team, the former Expedia Germany boss. 180 hotels were available to see on video this week and by the end of the year, this number is to grow to 1,500 hotels in 50 large European cities. Allegedly, the hotelier pays nothing for the presentation.
Frankfurt/M. The past is no longer important: after many decades, Steigenberger Hotel Group and its roughly 82 hotels are separating from their Worldhotels sales partner - formerly founded by Steigenberger. Consequently, the marketing and booking association is losing its biggest hotel partner. Worldhotels' biggest client is now Lindner Hotel Group with 25 hotels.
Berlin/Frankfurt. Are they honest or honestly manipulated - hotel evaluation schemes on the internet? The boom takes its course, and one or other hotelier or event planner is sure to be surprised at some of the comments or judgements from travellers. Two discussions - as part of the "Hospitality Day" at this year's ITB and at the VDR-HSMA's "Hotel Event Day" in Frankfurt last week - showed that the new phenomenon under the heading "Web 2.0" had serious credibility and security flaws. As a survey conducted by hospitalityInside.com was able to determine, the hotel industry is now beginning to take a constructive look at such evaluation schemes on the internet. A concrete benchmark between HRS, hotel.de and holidaycheck also shows the differences between business and holiday orientated platforms.
Augsburg. The online travel market is continuing to develop at amazing speed: According to a market study; by 2008 a good 40% of all holiday business will be completed on the internet.
Hamburg. Internet connections are becoming quicker and cheaper - and multimedia applications on the net are easier to use. Primarily as a result of "streaming video" offers from TV channels and video communities and as platform for short films, the internet now provides an attractive selection of films and videos for the user. A study made in Hamburg now gives hotels and hotel groups tips on how today's internet users are behaving and shows just how much even now TV is being replaced by the world wide web.
Southlake/Texas. The acquisition of Sabre Holdings by affiliates of the private equity firm Silver Lake and the private investment partnership company Texas Pacific Group is completed. With this, all Global Distribution Systems are in the hands of investment companies.
