Duesseldorf. Lindner Hotels & Resorts are to expand into eastern Europe, Chairman Otto Lindner announced recently in Prague. As well as the Czech Republic, he also made clear that the hotel group were looking at Bulgaria and Belarus.
Frankfurt/M. The number of international travellers coming for holidays or on business to Germany is still growing. As the German National Tourist Board announced at the ITB in Berlin 48.2 million overnight stays by foreign visitors were recorded between January and December 2005 at hotels with nine or more beds and campsites in Germany. This means an increase of 6.4 per cent on 2004. The GNTB is forecasting that, with further annual growth of around three per cent, there could be a total of 58 million overnight stays just in hotels with nine or more beds in 2015.
Berlin. Horst Schulze's luxury hotel group Capella founded in 2005 in Atlanta wants to reopen the Gunter Sachs Stately Home in Velden on Lake Woerther in spring 2007. Derelict for 12 years, the residence is to be restored to former glory as city hotel just like Breidenbacher Hof in Dusseldorf.
Berlin. The upwards trend continued for hotels in Germany in 2005. The number of overnight stays rose last year by three percent, occupancy by 2.4%. Room rates, on the other hand fell again, this time by almost 1 percent point. From 2007 the massive increase on VAT will also make a difference. The German Hotel Association announced results from a detailed report at their annual press conference yesterday.
London. Hotel rates in Liverpool witnessed the strongest year-on-year growth in average rates according to major travel management company BTI UK's annual hotel survey.
London. Eleven Courtyard by Marriott hotels owned by Chiltern Mondiale, a syndicate of private investors, went up for sale for £110 million. Supporting documents abut the properties, known as a teaser document, has been sent out to between 30 and 40 partners deemed suitable.

Dallas. The small but fine collection of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has after a long while now seen three new additions to its portfolio. New Mexico, California and Florida are the new locations.
London. During the year 2006 ten new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts are currently scheduled to open around the world. In Europe a resort in Spain and a business hotel in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, will open under the brand name.
