UNWTO: Lift all travel bans!

Eleven percent fewer projects in Europe

Portsmouth. Lodging Econometrics counts exactly 1,824 hotel projects and 295,152 rooms in Europe in its year-end 2021 trend report. Since the second quarter of 2021, the total number of construction projects had fallen slightly below the year-end 2019 total.

London. While 2021 witnessed improvement in many European hotel markets, the recovery has been uneven, with cities continuing to lag behind holiday and provincial locations. The downward spiral in the cities has moved even further downwards for this in 2021. Notably, Germany has overall underperformed compared to the European averages.
