Vienna. UBM Development is stepping on the brakes: Vienna's developer is one of the first to convert planned hotels into offices or apartments. With this move, 2,000 hotel rooms are leaving the pipeline. The Gerch Group, too, will no longer integrate any hotel in its Frankfurt Tower.

Berlin. The German Hotel and Restaurant Association has published the results of a new survey, which does not bode well for the industry. Berlin. The summer holidays in Germany and the parliamentary summer recess are over. The discussion about the crisis in the German hotel industry continues, the situation is still bad. Appropriate financial aid is still lacking for the majority of businesses. The industry association Dehoga is keeping quiet; it last published survey results on August 11. One week later, government statistics followed, which do not give the all-clear either.
