Frankfurt/M. Congresses and events comprise a large part of the business travel revenue. Contrary to classic travel management, however, many companies do not fully master event management. Saving potential goes unused.
Frankfurt/M June is a good, when not the best month for conventions and congresses. But already experts are warning hoteliers of slow business next year. The reason: The football world championship. The ability to react quickly and to find intelligent solutions will certainly be required.
London/Berlin/Basel. The European Hotel Design Conference is now called "Sleep.05" and will reveal its new look in London in November. Another place for conceptual "Visions & Inspirations" will start in Basel soon. In early October, a new congress about real estate and financing is taking place in Frankfurt.
Berlin/New York. Travdex@ITB Berlin is a new alliance for the global travel, tourism and hospitality industry. The International Tourism Exchange ITB Berlin and PhoCusWright Inc., one of the travel industry's leading research and consulting firms, have announced a long-term agreement to organize joint conferences focusing on travel technology.
Darmstadt. The consumer is to develop more trust in online bookings. That is the message from the new tourist association Verband Neue Touristik e.V that was founded last Monday. Already eleven medium sized travel companies have organized themselves into its wings - from the internet portal to travel agent cooperation, from tour organizer to insurer.

Wiesbaden. Summer time, travel time. But hardly anyone notices that the travel organiser himself is the one standing behind the travel destinations. For years, the German travel organisers have been among the biggest hotel operators and owners of the country. Most of their hotels are located abroad. Recently, some strategic interests in hotel chains have been under careful examination.
Hanover. 1-2-Fly, a tour operator specializing in flights to the Mediterranean and classic car destinations, is about to expand into the long distance travel business for the winter season 2005/06.
Abu Dhabi. Last March the Sheikh conceded interviews: Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, the young chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority took the advantage offered by the world's biggest tourism fair, the ITB in Berlin, to appear as marketing representative for his country. After all, his Emirate is in future to stand proudly next to Dubai as tourist destination. Abu Dhabi is moving forward at a pace of knots.
