Dear Insiders,
Today, we begin with the pleasant, inspiring topics. First of all: After six years of HITT in Berlin, we are moving the Think Tank to Amsterdam! Save the date for 17/18 June 2024! The Dutch metropolis stands for rethinking, lateral thinking and openness. The perfect setting for the HITT community to develop visions and make new friends away from the day-to-day routine. This time, we won't be on the water, but right by the water. And in an unusual location in the very centre of the city.
We want to appeal to international hospitality experts with a modified concept. Day 1 will be dedicated to sustainability, while Day 2 will focus on innovations and future topics, including best practice. You can take part in one day or both. The motto is fixed, the programme is a work in progress.
And there is a third HITT news item: A new team of presenters takes the lead in Amsterdam. We are looking forward to Xenia zu Hohenlohe and Prof. Dr. Willy Legrand. Our first host, Tim Davis, moves to the Advisory Board. The first event details can be found in the corresponding article on the HITT page.
HITT 2024 will also highlight our new cooperation with Hotelschool The Hague (HSTH), which is also based in Amsterdam and itself has an innovation hotspot in Delft University of Technology. That's why we're starting today with a series of articles on the topic of robotics and automation. Our partners on this topic are the HSTH research team and Prof. Dr. Alexander Lennart Schmidt, our author is Sarah Douag.
With readers in 20 countries, hospitalityInside has long ceased to be a German medium. It is therefore all the more exciting to see that the next "original German" hotel group, H-Hotels with currently 64 hotels, is also venturing into more major European cities. I met Alexander Fitz and Thomas Haas, the shareholder and his CEO, in Berlin. Following corona, the multi-crisis and cyberattacks, both are realigning their focus: sharper brand profiles, less volume and more quality. What I appreciate about this unusual duo is: Thomas Haas always remains calm and Alexander Fitz gives great expression to his complaints. More...
The digital transformation of the hospitality industry continues at a fast pace. Many experts call it a "technological revolution". Professor Dr Alexander Lennart Schmidt of Technological Innovation at Hotelschool The Hague has witnessed a significant shift towards automation and the use of robotics within the hospitality sector over the past decade. Together with students, they started their own research.
The HITT has taken place six times so far, mostly in Berlin and on a ship. With the move of this Thought Leadership Event to Amsterdam next June, we will no longer be on the water, but right by the water - in a different, unconventional creative location, in the centre of the city of free spirits. For two days, we will be discussing sustainability and innovation.
It's a conference in which hotel owners and owner-operators make up the majority. Simon Allison, CEO of the international investor club Hoftel, is hosting the Atlantic Ocean Hotel Investors' Summit (AOHIS) in Madrid for the second time on 22-23 January 2024. An insider event for Central Europe and beyond. HospitalityInside is participating as a media partner for the second time.
The French financial group LFPI (La Financière Patrimoniale d'Investissement) has now also given investors in its German subsidiary LFPI Hospitality Group more room for expansion by taking over several companies since 2021. And the subsidiary is transforming from an owner-operator to a white-label provider.
Even after the third quarter of 2023, pipeline experts are convinced that the number of hotels in Europe will continue to grow steadily until 2025. The Middle East continues to have the largest hotel construction projects in the pipeline of any region in the world.
The serviced apartment market in Germany and Europe still has great potential, even in selected B and D locations. The apartment houses or hotels work wherever there is a lack of adequate accommodation.
