Munich. Europe's leading real estate and investment trade fair begins in Munich on Monday – and thus in one of the hottest real estate and hotel hotspots in central Europe. Looking toward the trade fair, here are a few assessments of the current situation in Germany.

Hamburg. The mood on the German hotel investment market remains positive. 59% of investors still want to make acquisitions despite the high price phase. But: The framework conditions are tightening. A current report has also analysed the top yields in city categories for the first time.

Bethesda. Marriott International on Tuesday announced the expansion of its home sharing pilot to include Paris, Rome and Lisbon in addition to London. Travelers can choose from more than 340 properties across four European markets now.

Vienna. UBM hotels Management GmbH, a subsidiary of the hotel developer UBM Development AG, and the hotel group Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG have signed a joint venture. Vienna House CEO Rupert Simoner is thus entering the franchise business with third-party brands.

Berlin/London. Seven years after its start and after two sales, the sharing portal Wimdu will be closed down by the end of this year. This was officially confirmed by the company yesterday. For the American financial investor Platinum Equity, the company's debt burden was simply too high. At one time, Wimdu started off as Airbnb's competitor. Airbnb might chuckle now but it currently has its own problems – as well as new ideas.
