Strong increases for Asian outbound travel

Berlin. After moderate growth rates of five per cent in 2017, Asia is picking up again with an increase of eight per cent in the first eight months of the year. A key growth driver has been travel within Asia, which outperforms all other regions and increased by ten per cent. The outlook for 2019 remains positive, but is suggesting a slow-down in growth compared to 2018 so far.

Vienna. Statistics for overnight stays made in Germany, Austria and Switzerland over the full-year 2018 look good and give rise to the expectation of a magnificent 2019. Current extrapolations reveal the number of overnight stays made last year in Austria grew by approx. 3.5%. In Switzerland, growth was 3.39% and in Germany it was approx. 4%. In all three countries, the biggest tourism cities will continue to grow and so build on their lead over weak destinations. Germany remains the motor behind the trend, not only for Austria, but also for other countries in the region, Martin Schaffer and Jan Hein Simons conclude, Partner at MRP Consult, Vienna, writing in a guest contribution today. Königshof Munich: The luxury legend to be reborn

Munich. The Königshof in Munich will close its doors after a gala on New Year's Eve 2018. The luxury hotel located on Munich's famous Stachus square will be demolished and rebuilt in 2019, on the same site, and will in future have nine instead of six storeys with roughly 105 rooms and suites. Prior to that though, the hotel will sell its inventory – from 10 to 12 January 2019.

2019: US Hotels to enjoy consecutive growth

Atlanta. Based on an upward revised outlook for the U.S. economy, CBRE Hotels Americas Research is forecasting the nation's hotels will enjoy a 10th consecutive year of growth in 2019. The experts expect a mild and short economic slowdown in 2021.

New on the market: IHR as white label

Berlin/Ahlbeck. The idea arose years ago, now Rolf Seelige-Steinhoff and Walter Neumann have publicly announced their joint operator company "IHR / International Hotels & Resorts". With this, Neumann, CEO of the Russian Azimut Hotels, returns to Germany and the chief of SeetelHotels on Usedom expands his radius of action. IHR will in future mainly operate resorts.
