Beijing. 2016 results on expenditure from major outbound markets reflect increasing demand for international tourism across the world, as reported in the latest UNWTO "World Tourism Barometer". With a 12% increase in spending, China continued to lead international outbound tourism, followed by the United States, Germany, the UK and France.

Berlin. In 2016, the German hotel industry posted its seventh record year in a row. It remains very optimistic for the future too. At 279.6 million overnight stays, the sector recorded a 2.8% increase in revenue last year. At the same time, occupancy and net room rates improved and edged closer to the European average. The German International Hotel Association still points to many unsolved problems though.
London. The first "European Hotels & Chains Report" by Horwath HTL analyses 13 hotel brands, including strong leisure destinations such as Croatia and Spain and not only business-focused countries such as Germany, France and Great Britain, which we already introduced a little last week. Today, we present Croatia and Spain with the data that the report contains on hotel chains, their brands and market penetration.
