Beverly Hills. Hilton Hotels Corporation is exploring strategic alternatives for the company's Scandic brand of hotels, including the possible sale of all or part of the business. This explains last week's news by hospitalityInside.com saying that Hilton International will reduce the Scandic brand to Scandinavia again and look for brand alternatives in the rest of Continental Europe. Hilton International also completed the sale of 24 UK based LivingWell health and fitness clubs. Last week, Hilton Hotels Corporation also announced the beginning of a global expansion effort for the Doubletree hotel brand.

Wyndham Hotel Group and the Corinthia Group of Companies yesterday signed an agreement in principle to jointly manage hotels under the Wyndham and Ramada brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Last week, Corinthia Hotels International, the hotel management arm of the Corinthia Group, appointed Tony Potter as new Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, he was CEO with Millennium & Copthorne plc..

New York. Last Tuesday, August 1,  Wyndham Worldwide Corporation span off from Cendant Corporation and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WYN. The company became a member of Standard & Poor's S&P 500 index.

Just as with many other things connected to the word "Dubai", this expansion will also be marked by superlatives. This includes a huge demand for employees. Across the city, the fight for well-trained staff has begun, according to an industry expert. The recruitment teams even travel as far as South America.

Geneva. The Global Hotel Alliance, an international hotel association lead by Kempinski, has founded a new company and brought in a technology partner. GHA-CEO Christopher Hartley also confirmed that negotiations were being held with further partners as well as announcing the first of the new Shaza Hotels.
